Reflection

What thought needs to be stopped before it leads your emotions?

Today’s Scripture

2 Corinthians 10:5
"...we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."

Devotional

Not every thought deserves a place in your mind. Some thoughts need to be stopped, arrested, and brought under the authority of Jesus.

The Bible tells us to take every thought captive. That means you don’t have to let your mind run wild. You don’t have to follow every fearful idea, every anxious scenario, or every hopeless conclusion. You have spiritual authority over what you allow to stay.

The first step is noticing the thought. You cannot renew what you refuse to recognize. Maybe the thought sounds like, “This will never work,” or “I’m always going to struggle,” or “Nothing is ever going to change.” At first, it may feel like just a passing idea. But if you keep rehearsing it, that thought can begin shaping your emotions and your actions.

That’s why you have to stop it early. Just like a parent might firmly say, “Stop,” when chaos breaks out in the house, sometimes you have to speak firmly to your own thoughts. “No. You don’t get to lead me. You come under the obedience of Christ.”

This is not about pretending the battle is not real. It is about refusing to let the battle between your ears determine the direction of your life.

Your thoughts must bow to truth.

Application

When a wrong thought rises today, stop it and bring it under the authority of God’s Word.

Prayer

Jesus, help me take every thought captive and refuse to let fear lead my life.
