A Mind Anchored in Peace

Self-Reflection

Where does your mind need to be anchored in truth today?

Key Scripture

Isaiah 26:3
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

Devotional

An overwhelmed mind does not have to stay overwhelmed. A fearful mind does not have to stay fearful. God has given you power, love, and a sound mind.

Isaiah says God keeps in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him. That does not mean the person has no problems. It means their mind is anchored. It is not drifting wherever fear wants to take it. It is stayed on God, His Word, His promises, and His faithfulness.

Romans 8 says the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. That means peace is connected to what is governing your thinking. When your mind is ruled by fear, it naturally moves toward pressure and worst-case scenarios. But when your mind is led by the Spirit, it begins to move toward life.

This takes practice. When fear rises, stop it. Don’t let it lead your thoughts. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring your mind back to truth. The more you meditate on the Word, the stronger and healthier your mind becomes.

Peace can become familiar. Truth can become your anchor.

Reflect

  • What thought has been pulling your mind away from peace?
  • What Scripture can you use to anchor your mind today?

Prayer

Holy Spirit, train my mind to stay anchored in truth. Lead my thoughts into life and peace, and help me receive the sound mind God has given me.
