Devotional

Elisha’s servant wasn’t wrong about what he saw. An army really was surrounding the city. Horses and chariots really were there. The threat was visible, and his fear made sense in the natural.

But he was incomplete in what he saw. That’s the part faith helps us remember. A medical report may be real. A financial statement may be real. A family situation may be real. But if you only stare at what the natural report says, you may miss the larger truth of what God is doing.

Elisha prayed, “Lord, open his eyes.” When the servant’s eyes were opened, he saw the mountain full of horses and chariots of fire. The enemy was present, but God’s help was greater. The visible problem wasn’t the whole story.

There are moments when you need that same prayer. “Lord, open my eyes.” Not so you can pretend the problem doesn’t exist, but so you can see beyond it. Open my eyes to Your protection. Open my eyes to Your provision. Open my eyes to the healing, wisdom, strength, and peace You’ve already made available.

Faith doesn’t deny what’s in front of you. Faith refuses to let what’s in front of you be the only thing you see. God is present in the picture, and His presence changes everything you’re facing today. Ask Him to show you what fear has been leaving out.

Reflect

Ask God to show you the part of the picture you haven’t been seeing yet.

Prayer

Lord, open my eyes. Help me see beyond the report, the fear, and the pressure. Show me Your presence, Your help, and Your promise in the middle of what I’m facing. In Jesus’ name, amen.
