When the Promise Feels Far Away
Reflection
Have you started doubting God because your reality hasn’t changed yet?
Today’s Scripture
Hebrews 10:23
"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful."
Devotional
One of the hardest parts of faith is the space between what God promised and what you’re currently experiencing. You pray. You believe. You stand on Scripture. But then days turn into months, and sometimes months turn into years. That gap can feel discouraging if you’re not careful.
David understood that kind of tension. God anointed him king while he was still a shepherd boy, but he didn’t step into the throne immediately. Years passed before the promise became reality. During that time, David had to keep believing what God said even when his circumstances didn’t match it yet.
In her teaching, Pastor Kelli reminded us that many believers walk away from their promise because the process takes longer than expected. They pray, fast, stand on the Word, and eventually begin wondering if any of it is actually working. But God calls things that are not as though they already were. He sees the finished picture before we do.
That’s why holding onto your confession matters so much. Faith keeps speaking even while the promise is still developing. Not because you’re pretending reality doesn’t exist, but because you trust God more than what you currently see.
The enemy wants discouragement to silence your faith before breakthrough comes. But God is still faithful in the waiting. The promise hasn’t disappeared just because the timeline feels longer than expected.
Application
Keep speaking God’s promise even if your circumstances haven’t changed yet.
Prayer
Lord, help me stay steady in faith while I wait for Your promises to fully unfold in my life.
