Don't Limit What God Can Do
Reflection
Have you been thinking smaller than what God has promised?
Today's Scripture
Psalm 78:41
"Again and again they put God to the test; they vexed the Holy One of Israel."
Devotional
It is possible to be delivered from something and still think like you're trapped in it. The Israelites had been rescued from Egypt, but Egypt was still shaping their thoughts. They saw God's power. They walked through the Red Sea. They received manna from heaven. They drank water from a rock. Yet when pressure came, fear still led their thinking.
Their problem wasn't God's ability. It was their mindset. Psalm 78 says they limited the Holy One of Israel. They didn't make God small, but their thinking stayed too small to fully receive what He wanted to give them.
That can happen in our lives too. We can love God, believe in Jesus, and still think like we're barely surviving. We can be children of God while expecting lack, defeat, rejection, and disappointment. We can be walking toward promise while still thinking like slaves.
God doesn't want your old fears to define your future. He doesn't want past disappointment to shrink your expectation. He doesn't want you looking at His promises and thinking, "That could happen for someone else, but not for me."
A son or daughter thinks differently. They trust the Father's heart. They expect provision. They believe there is more in the house than survival.
God's promise is not limited by your past. But your thinking must rise to agree with what He has already said.
Application
Ask God to show you one area where your thinking has been too small.
Prayer
Father, help me stop limiting what You want to do in my life through fear or unbelief.
