Fear Doesn't Get the Final Word
Reflection
What fear have you been carrying that God is asking you to surrender?
Today's Scripture
Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything... and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Devotional
Fear has a way of making itself sound responsible. It tells you that if you worry enough, control enough, and rehearse every possible outcome, you'll somehow stay safe. But fear doesn't actually protect your life. It takes over your thoughts, steals your rest, and convinces you that everything depends on you.
That's why surrender is so powerful. When you give fear to the Lord, you're not pretending the situation doesn't matter. You're acknowledging that God is more trustworthy than your anxiety. You're choosing to believe that the Father loves what concerns you even more than you do.
A young mother can worry constantly over her child, checking every sound, every movement, and every moment. But peace comes when she finally says, "Lord, You love this child even more than I do." That kind of surrender doesn't make her careless. It makes her free.
Fear may try to enter your thoughts, but it doesn't get to lead your life. The peace of God is available to guard your heart and mind. That peace doesn't always make sense to people around you, but it steadies you from the inside out.
You don't have to keep rehearsing the fear. You can surrender the thought, receive God's peace, and let His Word become louder than anxiety.
Application
Name one fear today and intentionally give it to the Lord in prayer.
Prayer
Father, help me surrender the fears I've been carrying and receive Your peace in their place.
