Speak to the Storm
Reflection
What storm have you been describing instead of speaking to?
Today’s Scripture
Luke 8:24
"He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm."
Devotional
Storms reveal what has been happening in the heart. When everything is calm, faith can sound easy. But when pressure rises, what comes out of our mouths often reveals what we have been thinking.
The disciples were in the boat with Jesus when the storm came. They were following Him. They were close to Him. Yet fear still took over their words. They cried out as if they were about to die, even though Jesus had already said they were going to the other side.
Jesus responded differently. He did not rehearse the danger. He did not panic over the waves. He spoke to the storm, and it had to obey. Then He asked the disciples, “Where is your faith?”
That question still reaches into our lives today. When difficulty comes, fear wants to speak first. It wants to describe the problem again and again until the storm feels bigger than God’s Word. But faith learns to speak differently.
Speaking to the storm does not mean denying reality. It means refusing to let the storm define reality. God’s Word is higher than what you see, feel, or fear.
You may still be learning. The disciples were still learning too. But the more you know Jesus, the more you learn how to respond like Him.
Application
Speak one promise of God out loud over a situation that has been troubling you.
Prayer
Jesus, teach me to respond to storms with faith, authority, and confidence in Your Word.
