Reflection

Is there a promise in God's Word that you've assumed couldn't apply to your life?

Key Scripture

2 Peter 1:3 (NKJV)
as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,

Devotional

When you've lived with something for a long time, it can begin to feel permanent. You get used to expecting lack, carrying worry, or assuming that a peaceful life is for someone else. Those expectations can become so familiar that you stop asking what God has actually promised. You may believe His Word is good and still struggle to believe there's something in it for you.

Second Peter tells us that His divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness. The passage goes on to describe His exceedingly great and precious promises. God hasn't invited you into a life sustained only by your own resources. Through knowing Him, you can receive what He's provided. His promises invite you to expect more than the patterns you've always known.

The Israelites stood near the land God had promised them, yet they saw themselves as grasshoppers beside its giants. Their view of themselves shaped their response to His promise. They could see the territory and still hesitate to enter it. We can do something similar when we read about God's provision or peace, then immediately explain why our history makes us an exception.

Today, notice where you've quietly settled for less than what God's Word says. You don't have to manufacture His provision or earn His promises. You receive them by faith. Begin with one promise and let it challenge one familiar expectation. As you grow in knowing Him, allow His Word to reshape what you believe is possible in your life.

Application

Choose one promise from the Scriptures discussed in this week's podcast. Write down the old expectation it challenges, then thank God for what He's provided through Christ.

Prayer

Father, open my heart to the promises You've given me. Help me recognize the expectations that have kept me from receiving what You say is mine. I choose to trust Your goodness and provision. In Jesus' name, amen.
