The Report Isn't the Last Word

Reflection

What report has been speaking louder than God's promises in your heart?

Key Scripture

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Devotional

A report can arrive with facts that feel final. It may concern your health, job, finances, or someone you love. You don't have to deny what you've heard or pretend the situation doesn't exist. But you also don't have to let that report be the last thing your heart hears.

God's Word introduces new information. The circumstance may say, This is impossible, while Scripture reminds you that all things are possible to the one who believes. A diagnosis may describe what is happening in your body, while God's Word reveals His promise of healing. The natural report is real information, but it isn't the only information available to you.

Romans says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Faith isn't produced by trying harder or forcing yourself to feel confident. It grows as God's truth is repeatedly planted in your mind and heart. Each time you read, listen to, speak, or meditate on Scripture, you're giving His eternal truth another opportunity to become more real to you than what you see.

When fear repeats the report, answer it with the Word. Apply God's promise to the storm you're facing. You aren't ignoring reality. You're refusing to build your expectation from the temporary facts alone. Let the report tell you what needs prayer, then let God's Word tell you what is possible. What you've heard may be serious, but it doesn't get the final word.

Application

Write the report or circumstance troubling you in one sentence. Beneath it, write a Scripture that brings God's truth into that situation, and read it aloud today.

Prayer

Father, thank You that what I see isn't the only information I have. Help me hear Your Word repeatedly and let Your promises become greater in my heart than every fearful report. In Jesus' name, amen.
