What difficult place has made you question whether God’s favor is still with you?

Today’s Scripture

Genesis 39:2
"The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered."

Devotional

Joseph’s life teaches us something important about favor. Favor is not proven by easy circumstances. Favor is revealed by the presence of God in every circumstance.

Joseph did not begin in a palace. He was rejected by his brothers, thrown into a pit, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and sent to prison. If we judged favor by location alone, we might assume Joseph kept losing it. But Scripture says something different: the Lord was with Joseph.

That is the definition of favor. Not where you are, but who is with you.

Joseph prospered in Potiphar’s house because the Lord was with him. He found favor in prison because the Lord was with him. Eventually, he stood before Pharaoh because the Lord was still with him. The circumstances changed, but God’s presence did not.

That is encouraging for seasons that do not look favored on the outside. You may be walking through delay, pressure, misunderstanding, or disappointment. But difficulty does not mean God has left you. A hard season does not cancel His favor.

Favor is not limited to the palace. It is with you in the pit, in the process, in the waiting, and in the place you would not have chosen.

If God is with you, favor is with you.

Application

Look at your current season and declare, “God is with me here.”

Prayer

Lord, help me recognize Your favor even in places that feel difficult or hidden.
