Take Every Thought Captive
Reflection
What thoughts have been running freely in your mind without being challenged?
Today's Scripture
2 Corinthians 10:5
“Take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ.”
Devotional
Not every thought that enters your mind deserves to stay there. Scripture teaches us to take thoughts captive. That means recognizing when a thought doesn’t align with truth and refusing to let it control us.
Sometimes our thoughts spiral into fear, doubt, or hopelessness. Left unchecked, those thoughts can lead to emotions and decisions that pull us away from God’s promises. But God has given you authority over your thoughts. You can stop a thought and examine it. You can ask, Is this truth or is this a lie?
When you recognize a thought that doesn’t belong, you don’t have to tolerate it. You can bring it into submission to the truth of Christ.
Application
The next time a negative thought appears, pause and say: “That thought does not align with God’s truth.”
Prayer
Lord, help me recognize thoughts that don’t come from You. Give me the courage to take them captive and replace them with truth.
