Stop Waiting for Approval

Reflection

Where have you been acting like you still need God’s approval instead of trusting what He’s already said?

Key Scripture

2 Corinthians 1:20
“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.”

Devotional

A lot of believers live as if God’s promises are on pause until they get everything right. They think maybe after they pray more, behave better, or feel more spiritual, then God will finally say yes. But the Bible says the promises of God are yes in Christ. Not maybe. Not eventually. Not after you prove yourself. In Christ, the answer has already been settled.

That doesn’t give us permission to live carelessly. It gives us freedom to come boldly. There’s a big difference between living from acceptance and striving for it. If you think God is still deciding, you’ll stay stuck in insecurity. You’ll keep wondering whether you’ve done enough. You’ll hesitate to believe big. You’ll pull back when faith should be moving forward. But when you know the yes has already been spoken in Jesus, you stop living like an outsider trying to earn a place at the table.

This kind of faith is deeply restful. It doesn’t panic. It doesn’t grovel. It comes with confidence because it knows where the answer was secured. Jesus finished the work. He carried the burden. He opened the way. So when you pray, you’re not trying to get God into agreement with you. You’re bringing your heart into agreement with what He already said. Let that settle something in you today. Heaven is not undecided about what Jesus already purchased. If the promise is in Christ, then you don’t have to wait for approval. You can answer God’s yes with your amen.

Application

Replace “I hope God will” with “God already said yes in Christ” and let that shape how you pray today.

Prayer

Father, thank You that Your promises are yes in Christ. Help me stop praying from uncertainty and start agreeing with what Jesus has already secured for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
