From Lack to Overflow
Reflection
What area of your life feels empty or insufficient right now?
Today’s Scripture
2 Kings 4:2
"Your servant has nothing there at all... except a small jar of olive oil."
Devotional
Sometimes all we can see is what’s missing. We focus on the lack, the limitation, the debt, the unanswered prayer, or the small amount we currently have. But God sees possibility where we often see insufficiency.
Pastor Kelli shares the story of the widow and the oil from 2 Kings 4. Her husband had died. Debt collectors were coming. Her future looked hopeless. And when Elisha asked what she had left, she answered, “Nothing... except a small jar of oil.”
But that small jar became the beginning of a miracle. God multiplied what seemed insignificant because that’s what He does.
Faith often starts small. Sometimes it begins with one Scripture, one prayer, one act of obedience, or one moment of trust. But God knows how to multiply what we place in His hands.
The widow watched every empty jar fill with oil one after another. Imagine how her faith must’ve grown with each vessel that overflowed.
God still works that way today. He takes what feels small and turns it into more than enough. He brings overflow into places that once felt empty.
Your current limitation is not too difficult for God. He’s still able to multiply what you surrender to Him.
Application
Bring your “small jar” to God today and trust Him to multiply it.
Prayer
Father, help me trust You with what I have and believe You for overflow.
