Take Every Thought Captive
Reflection
What thoughts have been replaying in your mind lately?
Today’s Scripture
2 Corinthians 10:5
"...taking captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
Devotional
Your imagination is powerful. God created it that way. But if you don’t direct your thoughts intentionally, fear will gladly try to direct them for you.
In this week’s podcast, Pastor Kelli shares how she’s learned to stop fearful thoughts before they settle deeply in her mind. When negative thoughts try to enter, she doesn’t just tell them to leave; she replaces them with a new picture rooted in faith.
That’s an important key.
A lot of believers try to stop negative thinking without replacing it with truth. But your mind was designed to imagine something. If you remove fear without filling the space with God’s promises, those fearful thoughts usually return.
Pastor Kelli describes imagining her husband fully healed, strong, preaching again, and praying for people at church. She called it repainting the picture in her mind according to God’s promises instead of current circumstances.
That’s exactly what Scripture means by taking thoughts captive. Your mind doesn’t get to run wild. Your fears don’t get to dominate your imagination. God gave you authority to redirect your thinking and align it with His truth.
The battle often begins in the mind, but God’s Word gives you the power to fight back.
Application
Interrupt one negative mental pattern today and replace it with God’s truth.
Prayer
Lord, help me control my thoughts and align my imagination with Your promises.
