Becoming a Strong Soldier
Reflection
How do you usually respond when life gets difficult?
Today’s Scripture
2 Timothy 2:3
"Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus."
Devotional
Most people don’t like hardship. We naturally want life to feel easy, smooth, and comfortable. But spiritual maturity often develops during difficult seasons, not easy ones.
In this week’s podcast, Pastor Kelli talked about her son Matthew serving in the Navy and working one of the most difficult assignments on the ship. Everyone around him complained about the job before it even started. But instead of joining the negativity, he decided to approach the season differently.
That mindset changed everything. Because he worked hard, stayed positive, and handled responsibility well, he quickly rose through the ranks. Strong people don’t rise because life is easy. They rise because they respond differently under pressure.
That’s exactly what Scripture means when it talks about enduring hardship like a good soldier. A strong soldier doesn’t spend all day complaining. They stay focused. They keep moving forward. They learn how to handle difficult assignments without giving up emotionally.
Faith works the same way. Hard seasons reveal what’s really filling your heart. They expose whether you’ve built your life on fear, frustration, and emotion or on the promises of God.
God isn’t asking you to pretend life is easy. He’s teaching you how to become spiritually strong while walking through difficult situations.
Application
Today, choose gratitude over complaining when frustration tries to take over.
Prayer
Lord, help me become spiritually strong and faithful even during difficult seasons.
