Devotional

The ten spies saw the promise and the problem at the same time. The land was exactly what God said it would be, fruitful and good. But when they saw giants, the problem became larger inside them than the promise. They didn’t only say, “There are giants.” They said, “We seemed like grasshoppers in our own sight.”

That one phrase reveals the real issue. The giants weren’t just in the land. The giants were in their inner picture. They had walked through miracles, deliverance, provision, and guidance, but they still saw themselves as small, powerless, and unable to possess what God promised.

Joshua and Caleb saw the same land and the same giants, but they carried a different picture. They let the promise shape what they saw. They weren’t ignoring the giants. They were refusing to let the giants define their identity or their future. Their courage came from agreement with what God had already said and remembered.

You’ll face things that look bigger than you. Healing may look far away. Provision may look impossible. Restoration may look too late. But the question is, what picture are you allowing to lead you? The problem will always try to paint you as a grasshopper. The promise will call you able, strengthened, and backed by God. That’s the image worth carrying into the land, one obedient step at a time.

What promise do you need to keep in view when the problem looks bigger than you?

Prayer

Lord, give me the courage of Joshua and Caleb. Help me see the promise more clearly than the problem. When giants look big, remind me that You’re with me and that Your Word is stronger. In Jesus’ name, amen.
