Before You Reach the Top
Reflection
Where are you waiting for a situation to change before believing what God says about you?
Key Scripture
Romans 8:37 (NKJV)
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
Devotional
It's easy to feel victorious when you finally reach the top of a mountain. The climb is behind you, the view opens up, and you can see what you've accomplished. But halfway up, when your legs ache and you're wondering whether to turn around, you might not feel much like a conqueror. That middle stretch can make you question everything you believed when you started.
Romans 8:37 speaks right into that moment. We're more than conquerors in all these things. Our identity in Christ applies while we're walking through the struggle. We don't have to reach the summit before His Word becomes true about us. Through Jesus, we're already loved, already His, and already called more than conquerors, even when the climb feels harder than we expected.
Think about the place where you're still waiting for change. Maybe you're tired of facing the same difficulty or discouraged because progress seems slow. The struggle can start telling you that you're failing, that nothing's working, or that you should give up. But those thoughts don't have the authority to decide who you are. God has already spoken, and His love remains steady in the middle of your uncertainty.
You can take your next step with that assurance today. You don't have to pretend the mountain is easy. You can acknowledge the steep path while trusting the One who's with you. At the bottom, in the middle, and at the top, your identity rests in Christ. Let what He says about you give you courage to keep walking.
Application
Identify one unfinished struggle. Before taking your next practical step, say Romans 8:37 aloud and thank Jesus that your identity in Him is already secure.
Prayer
Father, thank You that I'm more than a conqueror through Jesus, even in the middle of this struggle. Help me believe what You've said and take my next step with confidence in Your love. In Jesus' name, amen.
